Taught by Brian Tuffin, former President of SC Johnson and current CEO of his own company, the Entrepreneurship class took my group through the process of coming up with and pitching a company idea, creating a 5-year financial model, and finally presenting the business to a panel of real investors. We created SmartPod, a comfortable and innovative accommodation for long airport layovers in the form of capsule rooms.
This was the first opportunity to present our company and receive feedback from the audience. We took questions and made subsequent adjustments to our business model and expansion plan.
Because our business model was based on hourly rentals, besides expense and operation budgets, we had to build a pricing model and forecast capacity, including seasonal change in demand.
